Love in Sadness

In Wook asks Ma Ri to have dinner together, the one they were supposed to have the day before, but she can't bear the thought of it and runs away from the house. She makes her way to Jung Won's house. When he sees her soaking wet and hunched, he takes her inside. She tells him about her misery and the reason behind wanting the radical surgery and implores that he perform it. Meanwhile, In Wook hears of her disappearance and tracks her down.

In Wook successfully uses Ma Ri's mother to lure Ma Ri back. And for running away, he strongly reaffirms his love for her verbally and tries to make her understand why she can never leave him. Meanwhile, Jung Won can't stop thinking about Ma Ri's situation and the night his wife, Ha Kyung, got into a car accident.

Having a gun pointed at her face was the last of what she could take. In her attempt to escape In Wook, Ma Ri first moves her mother to another sanitorium with a new identity. She then fakes her death making sure to keep In Wook on her trail. Meanwhile, when Jung Won returns from the States, he hears of heart-breaking news.

Later, she runs into an altercation with some drunk men and calls Jung Won for help. Meanwhile, In Wook and his newly hired private detective, Cheol Young, try to get a lead with the purple dress.

When Hae Ra goes to see how Jung Won is doing, she is lost for words when she sees Ha Kyung standing in front of her. At that moment, Ma Ri clues into whose face she has but doesn't blame Jung Won for doing it. She decides to leave his house. Meanwhile, In Wook and Cheol Young get down to the last two buyers of the purple dress.

Down to the last person on the list, In Wook and his private investigator, Cheol Young, enter Jung Won's residence. Trembling in fear, Ma Ri locks herself inside the bathroom. When In Wook approaches the bathroom door, Jung Won stops him. In Wook then asks to see the purple dress, and when he does, he becomes speechless.

After finding a place to live, Ma Ri goes to see her mother. Cheol Young reports to In Wook that Ma Ri and Hae Ra are friends, heightening his suspicions with Ha Kyung, Jung Won's wife. Later, In Wook visits Hae Ra at the art gallery to find out more and to ask why she hadn't mentioned that fact.

Hae Ra tells Jung Won that Ma Ri's husband is Gunha Group's president, Kang In Wook, but it doesn't disturb him. Ma Ri also comes clean. She tells Jung Won that because of her husband's status, there was nowhere she could go for help. Meanwhile, Ma Ri tries to get back on her feet by selling her paintings.

After listening to what Seong Ho had dug up on In Wook and seeing the Gunha family picture, Jung Won goes to see Ma Ri. Ma Ri still trembles in fear that In Wook will find her. She reminds herself of the comforting words of Jung Won and tries to move on. Meanwhile, In Wook receives a call from Cheol Young, informing him of Ma Ri's mother's whereabouts.

In Wook inquires about the painting Ma Ri had given to the art gallery run by Hae Ra and insists that he buy it. Ma Ri contacts her old friend, Woo Seon, to ask for a favor in secret, but when Woo Seon goes to meet her, In Wook follows her. Seeing In Wook on her tail, Ma Ri aborts the meet. Later, Ma Ri gets a call regarding her mother who keeps asking to see her daughter.

Going against Jung Won's words, Hae Ra goes to see In Wook by herself and accepts his request to do business with the gallery. Later, In Wook learns that Ha Kyung was in an accident five years ago and is still in a coma. Meanwhile, Jung Won receives a call from his mother that the police came to her house.

Jung Won tells Hae Ra that the painter of the Cistus flower that they had been looking for, is Ma Ri. But when Hae Ra asks him about Ma Ri acting as Ha Kyung for In Wook, he tells her not to mention that idea again. Later, after receiving a call from In Wook, Hae Ra calls Ma Ri to meet.

When Jung Won returns to the gallery, he bumps into Ma Ri as she leaves. Disappointingly, he finds out from Hae Ra that Ma Ri was here as Ha Kyung to sign a contract with In Wook.

Confused about the feelings he has towards Ma Ri, Jung Won goes to tell her that he'd like to dig deeper. Ha Kyung professes her love to Jung Won but is turned down by him. Later, Ha Kyung goes to meet with In Wook at his request, to discuss the Art Gallery Agreement Jung Won had said he'd cancel.

After the dinner arrangement, In Wook follows Jung Won and Ma Ri to her rooftop room. When Jung Won leaves, In Wook surprises Ma Ri and threatens her demanding to know where she hid his wife. Feeling that something was not right, Jung Won returns to the rooftop room and confronts In Wook.

Ma Ri decides to get away from Jung Won who she believes will be in danger if she stays with him. However, right before she boards her train, Jung Won grabs her to an embrace. Meanwhile, In Wook goes to Hae Ra's house and tells her to prove her loyalty to him by telling the truth.

With only ten days to get Ma Ri back, In Wook arms his hunt with more men and puts tighter surveillance on Jung Won and Ha Kyung. Ma Ri meets with Hae Ra and warns her not to trust In Wook. As she leaves, Ha Seong Ho recognizes her and learns of Jung Won's secret surgery. Meanwhile, Jung Won stays by Ma Ri's side and confesses his feelings for her.

After seeing the pictures of Seong Ho and Ha Kyung together, Jung Won confronts Seong Ho about it and tells him never to show his face again. In Wook also tells Hae Ra about the affair to stir the pot. Later, Hae Ra goes to Jung Won's house and finds Ma Ri waiting for him.

Aware of who Ha Kyung was, Ma Ri tries to console Jung Won as he weeps in sorrow. Meanwhile, In Wook goes to the gallery to see what commotion he had started, but instead, he finds out Jung Won already knew. He then makes his first order with the gallery, putting 100,000,000 Won down as a deposit.

After finding out that Ha Kyung was dead, In Wook goes berserk. He goes to her workshop looking for her and tells Cheol Young to find a fingerprint to compare with his missing wife, Ma Ri. Later, he goes to the art gallery and forces Hae Ra to tell him where Ma Ri is.
