The Tofu War

HIU-YING goes to find SIU-MING to sign off as the power of attorney for lease of the property. Not wanting to cause HIU-YING’s misunderstanding, SZETO NAM instantly tries to hide. Nevertheless, she is still being discovered. After delivering the goods, WAI-LUNG plays Mahjong with the villagers, but someone secretly takes photos of this. SIU-MING calls a meeting, pointing out the problems that each employee has while working. Initially, SAU-KING is able to deal with them smoothly. However, after SIU-MING takes out the photos showing WAI-LUNG gambling, he reprimands SAU-KING for being overcontrolling and her indulgence towards her subordinates, adding that SAU-KING is the one to blame for bringing down Ding Fook Wo. SIU-MING explains to SAU-KING why he fired several employees, above which he even predicts that Ding Fook Wo will only last three more years if no reform is made……

SAU-KING falls, causing a swollen foot and ankle. Upon her arrival at the soy products factory, SZETO NAM finds out that SIU-MING is the corporate advisor. Not wanting to be seen by him, she instantly hides herself. SIU-MING arranges for the staff members to attend many training workshops. Though SZETO NAM intends to tell him that SAU-KING is actually her mother, unfortunately, she misses the opportunity to break it to him. There are three training sessions. The first one is taken in a war game form, and SAU-KING and SIU-MING are the only two left to square off in the end. The second one called “Think out of the box”, and only WAI-LUNG manages to reach the terminal. When it comes to the last session called “Listen to your coach”, they are all over the place because none of them understands SIU-MING’s instructions. Having gone through three training sessions, SIU-MING evaluates and reviews the results to them……

SIU-MING treats the employees to egg tarts, and WAI-LUNG also puts in a good word for him, which greatly puzzles SAU-KING. SIU-MING asks SZETO NAM out to Salsa Dancing. After learning that TAK-CHING invites him and VERONICA to Salsa Dancing, DOU CHEUNG immediately agrees to it. Getting carried away while dancing, SZETO NAM suddenly sees SAU-KING, so she instantly urges SIU-MING to hide. In the meantime, she asks DOU CHEUNG to cover it up for her. When TAK-CHING is dancing with VERONICA, he also asks SIU-MING to cover it up for him after catching a glimpse of SAU-KING. With six of them sitting at the same table, SZETO NAM racks her brain seeking a way out. SAU-KING leads DAN-DAN and SZETO NAM to pay tribute to her late husband, during which SZETO NAM asks SAU-KING to recall how her father sacrificed himself to save people’s lives……

TAK-CHING secretly leads VERONICA to visit the soy products factory, but they are discovered by SAU-KING, who is instead thwarted by SIU-MING. With SAU-KING, TAK-CHING and the others having a fight at the factory, DOU CHEUNG and SIU-MING coincidentally collapse and both are rushed to the hospital. DOU CHEUNG learns that SZETO NAM is SIU-MING’s girlfriend, and SAU-KING is totally against them seeing each other after learning the truth. SIU-MING reveals to DOU CHEUNG how he met SZETO NAM. SZETO NAM leads SIU-MING to meet SAU-KING, who despises SIU-MING, thinking he is unable to bring her happiness. In the second stage of the proposal, SIU-MING plans to cooperate with supermarkets, to which DOU CHEUNG disagrees. Venting out his frustration, DOU CHEUNG tears up the proposal. SAU-KING tells MAN-FONG to seduce SIU-MING, but the honey trap plot fails……

SIU-MING is aware of the fact that he has put too much pressure on SIU-YIN, so HIU-YING gives him a hug to comfort him, which happens to be seen by SZETO NAM. By accident, SIU-MING causes SAU-KING to be injured and SAU-KING is hospitalized. SAU-KING tells SZETO NAM to break up with SIU-MING, and she even slaps her on the face. SIU-MING asks SZETO NAM out to meet him, during which he explains to her why he didn’t answer the phone when she called him. Thinking that she is not the one whom he can share his worries with, SZETO NAM decides to break up with SIU-MING. Leading all the employees to conduct the ritual of worshiping the gods, SAU-KING asks for TAK-CHING’s permission to resume the old system, suggesting that he should fire SIU-MING. SAU-KING even seizes the opportunity to remind DOU CHEUNG to continue pursuing SZETO NAM……

HIU-YING reveals to SIU-MING that SIU-YIN wants to be a horticulturist, hoping that SIU-MING is able to calm down and communicate with SIU-YIN patiently. After SIU-MING thanks HIU-YING for helping address their sibling bickering, HIU-YING frankly tells him that it’s all thanks to SZETO NAM. SIU-MING and DOU CHEUNG not only go about seeking the reason behind the decline in orders from restaurants, but also try to figure out how to prolong the shelf life of tofu products and research for a new tofu package. After SIU-MING and SIU-YIN run into a former Sushi restaurant manager BROTHER KWAN and his son, there is a ceiling collapse in an industrial building, so SIU-MING goes back to look for them. By coincidence, SZETO NAM and DOU CHEUNG see the news about how SIU-YIN asks for help from a firefighter. Though SIU-MING manages to save BROTHER KWAN and his son, he himself is crushed by the falling concrete……

SAU-KING leads SZETO NAM and SIU-MING to her Shijie’s graveyard, and she does not let them get married until they bow down in front of the tomb. SAU-KING not only brings along WAI-LUNG to SIU-MING’s home to move around his furniture, but also lays down some ground rules. While driving HIU-YING to work, WAI-LUNG learns that LAI-KUEN is unwell so he immediately rushes to the Elderly Care Centre. HIU-YING helps him look after LAI-KUEN, unexpectedly, she instead causes her to be injured. HIU-YING helps SIU-MING contact SZETO NAM’s father SZETO BONG, and invites him to attend the wedding. Thinking that it’s him who abandoned the family years ago, SZETO BONG declines the invitation. On the wedding day, SAU-KING appears to be very busy. At that moment, HIU-YING and SIU-MING start whispering in each other’s ears. Soon, SZETO NAM notices a man who looks very familiar to her. Simultaneously, SAU-KING also spots the man……

To thank WAI-LUNG, HIU-YING treats him to dinner at a high-end restaurant, where they surprisingly see PUI-SHAN, who works as a waitress there. PUI-SHAN gets down on her knees to beg HIU-YING to leave WAI-LUNG, but HIU-YING frankly tells her that she is not seeing WAI-LUNG. SIU-MING writes a business plan for a loan from the bank to purchase equipment, but SAU-KING is opposed to the idea. Meanwhile, the bank suspends their loans due to lack of some of the required documents. When SIU-MING thinks that SAU-KING must have been behind this, SZETO NAM instead urges him to put up with SAU-KING. TAK-CHING, DOU CHEUNG and SIU-MING are discussing about the direction of the corporate reform, during which SIU-MING suggests contracting out certain services such as cleaning, security and delivery crews, which SAU-KING is totally against. As SAU-KING’s 60th birthday is around the corner, SZETO NAM suggests throwing a birthday party for her……

SAU-KING and three other senior employees go to review their body checkup reports together, and only SAU-KING fails to meet the requirements. Not wanting to let SIU-MING know about it, she instantly sneaks her old report into the pile of new ones. YU-SUN goes to pay back the money to SAU-KING, who not only refuses to take the money, but also denies ever passing out on the street. At the birthday party, SZETO NAM and SIU-MING give a pair of longevity peaches to SAU-KING; whereas TAK-CHING and his son hand her a gold-plated retirement plaque, stirring up a big fuss among the other employees. SAU-KING is shocked to see this and she almost passes out. After retirement, SAU-KING has nothing to do so she wanders about, and even calls DAN-DAN out for lunch. Unexpectedly, she overhears that DAN-DAN has something urgent to do. Thinking an emergency occurs at Ding Fook Wo, she drives her car speeding back……

Having too much free time on her hands, SAU-KING starts cleaning SIU-MING’s home. Without permission, she not only throws away SIU-MING’s collections that he has been gathering since childhood, but also opens the warning letter that MASTER WAH gave him earlier, making SIU-MING feel very resentful. When PUI-SHAN is working at the restaurant, PETER arrives there to blackmail her for $200,000 by threatening to upload her naked photos to the internet. Going to look for PUI-SHAN, WAI-LUNG sees her mingling with PETER. He can’t help feeling very disappointed and leaves in a huff. TAK-CHING and DOU CHEUNG go to attend a meeting held by the Soy Products Association. Coincidentally, they and their business rival, COCKY CHIU from Wonder Beans, show a great interest in participating in the Cuisine Festival. SIU-MING has to move in temporarily with SAU-KING’s family due to the sewage blockage in his home……

SIU-MING conducts an experiment and manages to prove that TAK-YAN is not to blame for the cigarette butt found in the tofu package, instead he was framed. As to the leaky tofu package, he suspects that it’s the deliberate deed of their business rival. Eventually, Ding Fook Wo receives enough support to take over the role to organize the Cuisine Festival. PUI-SHAN notices being followed by PETER again, so she calls WAI-LUNG for help but can’t reach him. After learning that PUI-SHAN has an accident, WAI-LUNG regrets not picking up her call. Seeing that PUI-SHAN becomes very emotional, WAI-LUNG reveals to HIU-YING that he would like to spend more time to accompany her. HIU-YING discusses with SIU-MING about investing in Ding Fook Wo, during which SIU-MING frankly tells her that he mentioned about producing boxed tofu, but DOU CHEUNG and SAU-KING are totally against the idea……

SIU-MING often works overtime, which makes SAU-KING suspect that he used working overtime as an excuse to cover up his affair. SIU-MING introduces HIU-YING to TAK-CHING and DOU CHEUNG, and they discuss about investing in Ding Food Wo. SAU-KING believes that SIU-MING is having an affair; whereas SIU-MING is worried that things might get messy once SAU-KING learns about the investing negotiation, so he’d rather continue to hide the fact. SAU-KING asks her old friends for a favor to keep an eye on SIU-MING, seeking to gain solid evidence against him to prove that he has an affair. SIU-MING rushes to Pak Hei Sing to have a meeting with MR. TSEUNG, DOU CHEUNG and HIU-YING. MR. TSEUNG intends to purchase more than 50% of their company’s shares so as to become their majority shareholder, which greatly startles them. DOU CHEUNG feels very resentful……

SAU-KING hates HIU-YING’s guts thinking she is the one who wrecked SZETO NAM’s marriage. PUI-SHAN shows SAU-KING the text message that HIU-YING sent to WAI-LUNG, through which SAU-KING learns about the fact that Pak Hei Sing is going to invest in Ding Fook Wo. Bursting into TAK-CHING’s office, SAU-KING accuses SIU-MING and HIU-YING of plotting together to swallow up the business of Ding Fook Wo, and she forbids them from selling Ding Fook Wo. DOU CHEUNG receives SZETO NAM’s phone call, learning that she and SIU-MING had a quarrel over the business of Ding Fook Wo. While pointing out that what SIU-MING and SAU-KING have done is for the company’s best interest, DOU CHEUNG reiterates that his dream is to produce exquisite tofu. After SZETO NAM opines that DOU CHEUNG can make his own decisions, DOU CHEUNG is suddenly enlightened……

Showing his guilty conscience, TAK-CHING tries to persuade DOU CHEUNG to think thoroughly whether or not to transfer his 30% of the company shares, adding that it’s HIU-YING who plotted to frame him so as to let Pak Hei Sing acquire 50% of the shares of Ding Fook Wo. LIK-KEI gives HEI-SZE a sandwich and lets her taste it, which makes SZETO NAM think that LIK-KEI fell in love with HEI-SZE. Unexpectedly, HEI-SZE likes DOU CHEUNG; whereas FEI-YEE falls for LIK-KEI, resulting in a complicated love rectangle. PUI-SHAN pitches her intention of returning to the field of insurance sales to her former boss, who instead thinks it’s impossible for her to sell insurance anymore because of her disfigurement. LAI-KUEN confides in SAU-KING, who comes up with an idea for her. SAU-KING goes with WAI-LUNG to have dinner at PUI-SHAN’s home. After getting WAI-LUNG drunk, she carries him to bed……

SIU-MING has worked very hard to do the household chores ever since SZETO NAM became pregnant. In the face of the rent increase by their landlord, LIK-KEI, HEI-SZE and FEI-YEE intend to close the coffee shop, to which SZETO NAM disagrees. After learning that HIU-YING schemed to make MR. TSEUNG suspend his project of “Cold-pressed fruit juice”, DUNCAN exposes that it’s HIU-YING who orchestrated the entire ruse to plunge TAK-CHING into a dilemma. DAN-DAN runs into drunk TAK-CHING, who confides in her that for the sake of VERONICA, he is willing to sell his company shares to Pak Kei Sing. HIU-YING takes over the business of Ding Fook Wo on behalf of Pak Hei Sing, the news of which comes upon DOU CHEUNG like a thunderbolt, and SIU-MING is also shocked. HIU-YING not only raises the changes in personnel and production requirements, but also terminates SIU-MING’s consulting contract……

SIU-MING works around the clock to look after unconscious SZETO NAM following the accident. Having seen this, SAU-KING can’t help feeling deeply touched. Apart from buying herself a diamond watch to celebrate being promoted to CEO, HIU-YING even has tons of plans to expand the business of Flying Dragon Team, so WAI-LUNG reminds her that she does not have to reach the very top. WAI-LUNG leads LAI-KUEN to visit SAU-KING, who frankly tells them that she still remembers to safeguard Ding Fook Wo even though she needs to look after her own daughter. As requested by TAK-CHING, DAN-DAN invites DOU CHEUNG to a restaurant to make peace. Seeing SIU-MING dispirited, SAU-KING tries to reason with him, seeking to encourage him to pull himself together. In the press conference held by Pak Hei Sing to announce the future development of Ding Fook Wo, DOU CHEUNG claims that the whole buyout of Ding Fook Wo seems pretty shady……

SZETO BONG gives SZETO NAM a jade pendant as a gift, revealing that those who love her will always stand by her side. HIU-YING leads her assistant to report for duty at Ding Fook Wo, where some employees deliberately make things difficult for her. Surprisingly, she comes prepared. DOU CHEUNG still bears a grudge against TAK-CHING, so SAU-KING sends them a bottle of good wine and food to go with, in hopes of helping the father and son mend fences. Having gathered some evidence, SIU-MING learns that HIU-YING purchased some old beans instead of fresh beans after being deceived by an agent. That’s the reason why the soy milk they made is not smooth and rich enough. On top of that, the nutritional value of their products also decreases. When HIU-YING complains that WAI-LUNG often gets in the way of the acquisition of the business of Ding Fook Wo, WAI-LUNG, on the other hand, without saying anything, takes out a diamond ring……

DOU CHEUNG drafts an agreement, hoping that HIU-YING will sell her 50% of the company shares back to Ding Fook Wo, so as to allow them to continue their tradition, but HIU-YING refuses. Pak Hei Sing stock has plunged ever since they were affected by the scandal. Suddenly, SZETO NAM regains the memories of the novel titled “Killer Caustic” and the traffic accident she had, causing her a huge headache. Instantly, SIU-MING seeks aid from SAU-KING. However, SAU-KING mistakes her neighbor’s home for her own home, so SIU-MING suggests that she should go for a body checkup. MR. TSEUNG wants HIU-YING to take full responsibility for the Ding Fook Wo saga, urging her to sell all the shares of Ding Fook Wo held by Pak Hei Sing back to them. SIU-MING also tries to persuade her to reconcile with WAI-LUNG……
