His presence is met with hostility by Vaidya Kulkarni. When Sai Baba preaches that all gods are one, Vaidya pokes fun at him and makes it clear that he should leave Shirdi.

It is the dawn of India’s Independence movement. A British officer pays a visit to Vaidya Kulkarni and warns him about the movement that is gaining strength with each passing day. He informs Vaidya that no one in the village should assemble in groups. He assigns the task of keeping a check on this to Vaidya and leaves. Vaidya visits Sai Baba but before he can utter ill words, Sai Baba decides to leave the village.
