On a perfectly ordinary day in January 1966 at Odendaalsrus, two cousins go swimming at the municipal swimming pool. By dusk they are still not home, and a large-scale search is launched.
The family and community are deeply shocked by the horrific events. Issie's brother feels responsible for the tragedy. The local police station is not up to the task of investigating the case.
