When the prospective teacher Sahra begins her traineeship at a high school shortly after the terrorist attack on September 11th, she has no idea that the recent events will forever mark a turning point for her as a young Muslim woman. The fact that the young high school graduate Mahmud does not take part in a minute's silence in her class not only has far-reaching consequences for Mahmud: Sahra also becomes the target of the teachers.

Kenan is a young, aspiring art student. A few days after the attack on the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, the annual exhibition at his art school is taking place. Alongside Kenan's photos from his "hood", Mohammed caricatures are also on display. When his Muslim friends visit the exhibition, two worlds collide.

The unrest the day before has left Stuttgart in a state of emergency. On the way to a job interview, Leyla and her brother are stopped by the police for a routine check, which tests their patience and causes the situation to escalate for the overtired police officers.

Five episodes, five different perspectives of the people affected. The last episode goes a step further: It examines how these events entered the collective consciousness - and what influence the media had on social reality. What kind of picture was drawn in public after events such as the Stuttgart riots or the attack on Charlie Hebdo?
