Expecting

Lena faces her first hurdle. When she returns home, Felix is gone, leaving nothing but a note. At the gynecologist’s office, Lena is not only met with a lack of understanding about her plans, but she also has to face a flood of questions. Although her sister Tina is there for her, Lena increasingly realizes that this burden is hers alone to bear. Tina, a medical student, is eager to provide her sister with the best medical knowledge she can, but she takes it a bit too far.

Lena has to deal with hostile picketers on her way into the counseling center. It becomes clear to her that an increasing number of complete strangers want to interfere in her personal decisions. Then she meets Zoe, who offers both neutral professional guidance and unexpected friendship. Felix and Lena’s paths cross again at Zoe and Max’s home.

Lena has already weathered a number of challenges, but her greatest lies ahead. She bumps into her old friend Jakob, now a religion teacher. His life plans also changed over the years, and Lena has a somewhat indirect heart-to-heart with him about her situation. Soon after, she finds herself in Dr. Roithner’s office, facing the moment of her final decision. Will she go through with the abortion?

The final step of the journey is one that Lena must take by herself. She has made her choice, one that has changed not only her, but her small family as well.
